I made this plate in my evening class - one of our friends only ever offers you one digestive, whilst helping himself to two, so this creation was designed to remind him to offer us two in future!
I lacquered two digestive biscuits and then stuck them onto a plate. Plaster/silica was poured onto the plate and allowed to dry. Whilst the plate came away cleanly, the water in the plaster had leached into the biscuits, so several weeks were spent picking out black digestive bits from the mould.
Two circles of clear window glass were cut and placed in the depression left by the biscuits in the mould and a larger piece was then left to slump over the mould and fired in the class kiln.
Apart from some silver stain caused by airborne contamination by silver dust, the result was quite realistic:
